May, just like every month, was full of struggles and difficulties. But as I reflect, I choose to focus on the joys and blessings that I experienced. I’m going to share some of these with, in this update.
On Thursday, May 7th, under the auspices of my good friend and brother from another mother, Gordie Farnsworth,I was blessed with the opportunity to share my story with the health classes at Port Huron Northern High School (PHN). I normally share in the Performing Arts Center, but that was booked, so I spoke to about 150 students in the choir room. I was able to go off script a little bit, and show flashes of wit. I enjoyed it immensely. However, I am getting older (and grayer), so as of right now, I plan on that being my final speaking engagement for high schoolers.
On Saturday, May 16th, I was blessed to attend a concert that featured NF and Manafest, with special guest J. Steela. It was an awesome show. My friend, brother from another mother and concert organizer, Scott Cummins, arranged it so that I was able to go backstage to chat with NF for a few. I also got my picture with him, and an autographed poster.
On Thursday, May 28th, I got back in the saddle again, as I resumed equestrian (i.e. horseback) therapy. After a six months away, I did better than I had anticipated. It’s such a good core workout.
Finally, yesterday, May 31st, I was most blessed to be able to attend baccalaureate for my nephew, Chase Hollis, who graduated from Port Huron High School (PHHS). I helped him pick a verse of Scripture, Joshua 1:9, which he read to the audience. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” I am proud of Chase, and excited to see where the Lord leads him.
Well until next month, I bid you adieu!
